Travelling on multiple entry visa D while waiting for annex 46

Hi everyone. My husband and I have valid long stay visa D's based on single permit (husband) and family reunification (me). Our visas are valid until January 2024 and are multiple entry. Our residence cards expired on July 31 as that is when the first single permit expired. The employer applied for the renewal thereof at the end of April (3 months prior to the expiry thereof) but because of bureacracy we have not received the annex 46 yet. My husband has received his renewed work permit but not the annex 46 yet. We have a wedding in October in Portugal. Will we be able to fly to Portugal in October on the basis of the visa D's alone? Or is this not allowed without the residence cards?

It is a big problem because considering the current timelines, we will only receive annex 46 at the end of October AFTER the wedding.

As of my understanding, when you get the  resident card your long visa will be canceled automatically and no longer be valid in the schengen countries.

Good luck
