Shower room extension cost check

Post new topic

Senrab_nhoj

Hi all.

Have an apartment in Lagos and was looking to move to Portugal when i retire or spend a significant portion of my time there.

Brexit and NHR withdrawal have been two spanners thrown into the best laid plans.

I am looking for some assistance in understanding if a quote to extend and refurb a small shower room is sensible or I am potentially being ripped off...

The solution is to ask for several quotes.

Obviously nobody here is going to give you a quote for something unknown ...

Hi,    I'd advise you, if possible, to wait till you are here then you can go through exactly what you want done on site with any builders then they know precisely what you want quoted for and can clear up any queries like " some of these tiles will be a different shades of blue are they what you want or would you like to choose a different tile? ".   Also being available as they do the work means there is less chance of things stalling or going wrong.

PS.

I notice you included "extend" in your question, if this means to take it outside the original foot print of the property/article habitation area then it's a completely different scope of work involving submitting plans and getting permissions from "local council" to extend the habitation area etc.

Thanks for everyone's responses . I appreciate the question was a little 'low on substance' shall we say.

I have been quoted EUR4K (labour only) to enlarge an existing shower room to allow for a larger sink and bidet and move the toilet slightly so one is not sitting looking at a wall 3" in front of your face.  So moving a stud wall just less than 3ft.  The floor area is only 36 square feet and looking to go to 45 square feet.

This quote was from someone with a good recommendation etc. but as commented will be going out for other quotes but given my lack of local knowledge have no clue if this was a ballpark good figure or if they were taking a punt and adding a significant non local premium :)
