Hi Everyone,

One of the most commonly asked questions here relates to the waiting times of family reunification Visa D. Understandably so, as no one (or almost no one) likes to be separated from their loved ones for a prolonged period of time.

I know that family reunification visa type D takes up to 9 months but practically if everything is fine it can take less.

So what i am trying to do some analysis to help people have an idea on the estimation timeline.

So please if you guys can share when you started the process and when you recieved the Visa and if you are a EU or non EU citizen.

Thank you!

Kitah

Hi, I completely understand your situation. I am equally facing the same now. I see non-European citizens here getting results on an average of 4 to 5 months. My partner applied in July 2023, got registered on Dofi in August 2023 and we have been waiting since. I have come to the realisation that one can only wait; nothing much we can do to speed it up.

SkanB

@Kitah I hope she gets it soon, in the website it says 9 months but based on your experience or maybe people you know, does it really take 9 months? or most of the cases if nothing wrong, it takes less?

Kitah

Most of the cases I have seen take less than 9 months. I have rarely read anywhere on this forum where it took up to 9 months to get a response.

SkanB

@Kitah I see, thank you! i hope that your partner joins you as soon as possible. Please whenever you hear good news keep me posted, hope never hurts

@oliviawilliam2020

Hello,

i applied from Nigeria.

Kwannius

Is it normal that my visa tracking is still not online or registered on the website (dofi)

Hunny Bini

@Kwannius when did you apply it normally takes 1 to 2 months to get update.

patkanjeri

@Hunny Bini yes it takes 3 weeks to two months

Kwannius

@Hunny Bini

September 8: VFS global

September 12: VFS forwareded to Belgian embassy

October 5: received email from embassy that they forwarded to foreigners' office for examination and decision

Hattah

@Kwannius It took 6 weeks for mine to be trackable. So you will have to wait a bit.

Also, I am only able to track with the last 5 numbers of the tracking ID I received and not the whole ID starting with BEL.

Hunny Bini

@Hattah when did you apply ??

SkanB

@Hattah Any idea how long it takes to be processed once it becomes trackable?

Hattah

@Hunny Bini March 2023

Hattah

@SkanB It depends on whether you are EU or non-EU.

I have been in touch with them on several occasions and they claim they work with the 6 and 9 months rules for EU and non-EU citizens respectively. So you have to count from when you applied and forecast the worst-case scenario. It can be earlier but there is no accurate data on when to expect your decision after tracking. Though some people claim within 1-4 months.

My advice will be that you chill and wait based on a worst-case time scenario. Otherwise, this whole waiting period will mess you up. You cannot influence the waiting period, they work within their own time

SkanB

@Hattah Based on most cases here none reached 9 months ( if no additional documents is required)

so i think practically is less based on what i see here

Hattah

@SkanB You are right but this platform is only a small sample of the whole application to Belgium. And most of these data are from people with EU partners/ family based on those I personally got in touch with. I know someone from non-EU who is not a member of this platform whose application took 10 months.

Someone recently posted a timeline for non-EU which took 8 months.  As I said you can get it earlier but it's based on luck and the application center.

@Hattah

I have no id starting with BEL even

I have several reference numbers

First is in the subject of the email from the embassy: "your visa application: Moscou 123456"

Second reference number of VFS Global:

STPE/123456/1234/12

Third reference number of Visa On Web:

VOWINT1234567

So I even don't know which reference number is the correct one...

It's wise to be truthful, then people can help you. Why does your profile say you're a Belgian citizen?

Kwannius

@SimCityAT

Because I am Belgian citizen.

This visa is applied by my wife.

And I'm following the process

Hunny Bini

@Kwannius your visa application number is tracking number.

futher tracking will be update after 1 month or max 2 months generally .

until then website shows your data is incorrect.

Kwannius

@Hunny Bini

Thank you for the info.

I appreciate

dambada

Hi everyone, I have an update.  My husbands situation (family visa type D) has changed yesterday. The DOFI asked for extra documents to the consulate and they are waiting for these documents. I guess the visa center will contact us soon.  By the way, we applied for family visa in 13 july and it was seen on the dofi 27 september.

Kitah

Good luck, Dambada! My wife also applied in July and was registered on DOFI in August. Hopefully, we will hear from them soon, too.

Hunny Bini

@dambada what wxtra doc they have asked you and did you provide that doc already ?

dambada

@Hunny Bini they did not ask extra documents yet but they will ask probably soon. we are waiting for the mail.

Jerahsantillan280

@Kwannius

Hi these one is the right one (VOWINT1234567)

You can also use it to track your application in ibz.

God bless us here

Jerahsantillan280

@dambad

Hi I'm also waiting there email for asking the additional documents as they're mentioned in ibz tracking web.but until now they doesnt email yet

Then is it normal for us to wait too long?

Because I'm worried about it everyday😔

Jerahsantillan280

@Tessy14

Hi maam how was the update now?

Because I also got this result

And I'm curious what kind of documents they asked or even the result after...

Hope you notice it, and share your experience with me.

GuestPoster3121

@Jerahsantillan280

Hello, i have not received any email or letter about extra documents. My husband called Ibz and emailed the embassy but they said, they do not need any documents from us.  I am curious about their work system.

Jerahsantillan280

@Tessy14

Then it means until now you don't have yet visa? Or the final decision?

dambada

@Jerahsantillan280 I hope it does not take so long. we have been already waiting for months.

GuestPoster3121

@Jerahsantillan28

I am still waiting for the final decision. i am in my 6month

Prasanna ram kumar
