Buying a dog in Colombia and taking it back to the united states

Hi everyone, I am looking to buy a French bulldog in medellin. But I want to take the dog back with me to the US. Does someone know how I can do that? What is the legal process? What do I need? Any info is appreciated.

@alex9094 don't even attempt it. As of now until the end of July and possibly longer they are not allowed to enter the US because Colombia is a high risk rabies country. Until they change the rules to what they were 2 years ago, it would currently cost you roughly 10k and they would have to be kenneled for up to 2 months at facility.

@Jay Abernathy Once they change the rules back to what they were previously it would be rather easy to bring a dog back to the US.

Interesting, so how does that apply to bringing a dog to Colombia from the US and then wanting to repatriate the dog back to the US?
