Hi my name is Eve and have toured many areas of Spain. For the last few years have tried to go to Alicante and Covid had closed that door, even lost my flight money.

Now i am concerned about World Issues and yet am considering another final effort to visit (long overdue) to Alicante.

I would enjoy any comments about the area. I am going as a retired US citizen God Willing?

Alicante is a great city, we like it a lot. There are lots of lovely beaches too on the Costa Blanca, so you don't need to be in the city.

We have a lovely apartment in Elche, which is a large neighbouring town, with its historical downtown and UNESCO-listed palm groves. It's actually Alicante-Elche Airport (just 15 minutes from our apartment, and very convenient with low-cost flights with Ryanair and Wizzair to many countries).

We're downtown with access to supermarkets, parks and all facilities. And maybe 15 km drive to the nearest beaches.

It would be very nice to live in downtown Alicante next to Playa San Juan, for example, but that would have cost us 500k instead of 50k. :-)

I would suggest you look at idealista (dot com) so you can see what you can get for your money. There's not much point staying at a swanky hotel in Playa San Juan and falling in love with it, if you don't have the budget to live there.

Alicante, Murcia, Valencia are all good cities. You can also look at smaller places like Elche, Torrevieja, Santa Pola, Calp, Denia, Gandia and others.
