My name is Geoffrey, and I will be visiting Thailand in mid-June with my uncle, mainly in the Pattaya area. Previously I lived in Thailand and worked as a teacher. It's a great country for sure. I hope to return one day. I enjoy meeting new people so if you want to meet for coffee at T21, feel free to message me!

My name is Dave, from the UK and living in Malaysia. Interested to get some tips on Thailand been to Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Ayuthaya. Be good to hear of some good tips of places to visit as not far away.

Also Thailand is an option for retirement probably there or Indonesia. Would probably be thinking either Chiang Mai, Koh Samui or Phuket (probably Bang Tao, Rawai or Phuket Town) if Thailand. Be good to get insight on that might be somewhere not thought of.

Also good get tips of good places to visit when over - food, live music etc. Was reading a good interview from Goldie who lives in Phuket the other day for example where he mentioned a good pub and jazz venue. Probably others here could give some similar tips for Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Also interested get good tips places Thailand to go as nearby country. Been to Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai but be interesting find some hidden gems as it were.

Andrew McGuinness

@Julien

HI, I’m Andrew.

Currently in Thailand for around the 4th time. Love this place. I’m originally from UK.

It’s only now during this visit that I’m getting ideas of moving here for a year or so for work.

I’m an IT/Business project management consultant with around 15 years experience.

I havent started looking for jobs yet, and this is only an idea right now. I’m a methodical person and would not make any knee jerk decisions based on a whim or nostalgia.

Does anyone have any advice for me. I think if i landed a job in the right place I could really add value and hit the ground running as I have a lot of experience in challenging and delivery driven corporate environments.

I’m literally at point zero and would like some advice if anyone has any.

Thanks a lot,

Andy Mc

My name is Peytyn Willborn, and I am an experienced restaurant professional with over 10 years of experience in the food service industry. After spending a decade in Chicago, where I honed my skills in restaurant management, customer service, and culinary arts, I am excited to embark on a new venture—opening a taco restaurant in Thailand.

Throughout my career, I have developed a deep passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences and have a strong background in various aspects of the restaurant business, including menu development, staff training, and operations management. I have always been driven by a desire to create spaces where people can come together over great food, and now I am eager to bring a taste of authentic, flavorful tacos to the vibrant culinary scene in Thailand.

Moving from Chicago to Thailand represents a significant and exciting chapter in my life. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to introduce a unique taco concept that combines traditional Mexican flavors with a modern twist, catering to both locals and tourists. My goal is to create a restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also offers an inviting and memorable dining experience.

With my extensive background in the industry and a passion for culinary innovation, I am confident that my taco restaurant will be a valuable addition to Thailand’s diverse food culture. I look forward to contributing to the local community and sharing my love for great food with a new audience.

Hello, my name is Michael.  I am from Austin Texas.  This is my first exploration trip to Thailand.  i have been looking to move to thailand for the past year and finally decided to take a trip.  I am staying in Chon Buri area and am considering renting a condo in Pattaya.  I need something with a good gym, covered parking, close to the beach and access to shopping.  i would like to be in a more luxury condo.  i only need a one bedroom unit for myself.  Does anyone have a recommendation?  there are so many options it is hard to decide.  Maybe pointing me to a good expat realtor might help.  i could also use advice on the best banks to use.  thank you in advance for all inputs.

Banks?? This is Thailand and you are not a resident.... good luck with that

Anyway, I guess you did an extensive search before you ended up with Pattaya...1f606.svg1f606.svg

Ron..

Another old guy here, 72 from Boston.

Going to Thailand to check it out

I've been to Pattaya years ago while younger

loved Walking Street but don't want to rent a condo there, too crazy 24/7.

Have heard that south of Pattaya has some nice beaches places to stay and is within a tuk-tuk to the action.

If ya didn't live where your at now, which beach area would you move to?

Just checking out the places for a future move?

Hopefully your health is improving.

Thanks

John

@adsy1981  Hello, we have retired to Thailand since 2013 we came from California.  I have been wanting to visit Melbourne for some time.  I would love to get some suggestions on where to stay for a few weeks or a month.  We would like a modern building with a pool and walking distance to restaurants and transportation a view would be a plus.  We can pay 1500-2000 for the month. I would really apprecate any help you can provide me. In return I can help you with Thailand.    Patrick
