The best way to convince members of the forum that you are "in this together" with us is to read and follow The Vietnam Forum Code of Conduct (link).

If you had done that before posting

"I've got this little side hustle going on called [link under review]."

...then that post would probably be visible now instead of being held for review by admin.

It's good to see that you've listed your company in the business directory.

Hopefully you'll get some inquiries through that.

You are also able to post a free classified ad here.

Should you want a higher profile for your business on Expat.com, you are encouraged to contact the website advertising team through this link:

As much as you are welcome to join the forum and participate, be aware that many of us are watching closely for any warning signs that someone wants to "hustle" other forum members.

Because the truth is, we've learned long ago that "we" aren't all in this together, not if you include the myriad scammers and those looking to exploit Vietnam through illegal activities.

Good luck in your endeavors.

O.B.

@Julien

Hi there all. I am a retired professional Aussie living in Hoi An for the past 5 years, prior to that I was a regular visitor to the area since 2012.

I am a single octagenarian living out my life with my dog.

After more than a decade l am still opening new doors to the Vn culture and sometimes their mysterious ways of life.

I made the right choice

@Julien Hello, I'm from South Africa , currently working in a university in South Korea. I'll be on vacation in Vietnam in June and July and also hope to do some Vietnamese language studies in the future and get to know the culture more. I'm into language studies, Buddhism ( born into a Christian milieu) , yoga , cats and meeting people.

Also, still navigating the intricacies of the website.

Hello, I will be visiting DaLat Vietnam in September, and I am looking at getting all the excitement I could. Wish me luck.

Sonny C

Hi, I'm sonny. Over the past year, I've spent three months in Vietnam and absolutely fell in love with it, especially Da Nang. Living in England, I often feel like I'm just going through the motions, but in Da Nang, I feel truly alive.

The city's beautiful beaches, vibrant culture, and friendly people have captured my heart. The dynamic atmosphere and the blend of tradition and modernity in Da Nang are exactly what I'm looking for. Plus, the growing tech and startup scene aligns perfectly with my career goals.

I dream of making Da Nang my home and contributing to its thriving community. I'm excited about the opportunities and the fulfilling life I could build there. Living and working in Da Nang would be a dream come true for me.

I was born in VN and moved to the US.  Now I want to explore Vietnam for retirement in the near future.

Any help on this would be great.  As I understand, currently there is no programs for retirees in Vietnam.  I hope this will change in the near future.

Cheers,

Hello ltrinh (Larry), and welcome to the forum.

As a person of Vietnamese descent, you may qualify for a 5 year VEC (visa exemption certificate), as well as other privileges. If I might add, enviable privileges! 1f642.svg

If you'd like more information on this, I suggest you open a "New topic" for discussion, here (Link). There are several members of the forum with more (and valuable) knowledge of this than I.

Again, welcome to the forum. Good to have you with us.

@ltrinh well dear Itrinh you are not the only one, welcome to the club.

75 years old Roger coming back to Vung Tau in August

rogergarinmichaud

Not sure I created my intro to this forum so here it is:

I am a 75 years old French born Australian with long historical links to Vietnam (was known as Indochine to my godfather uncle who worked at customs "douane" Haiphong between 1945 and 1954 who married a Catholic school educated Vietnamese in the early 1950s. Another uncle was the manager of Banque Nationale du Commerce et de l'industrie BNCI at Saigon between 1945 and 1975)

I came to visit Vietnam first in 2017 for three months and, like my uncles before me, came to love the country.

I had already visited Vung Tau ( cap Saint Jacques) in 2017 but I felt the need to come back this year before completing my Buddhist pilgrimage in India in July/August.

I tried to practice the Tibetan Gelugpa style of Buddhism since 1977 when I met and received teachings from Lama Thubten Yeshe  and Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche so I always  feel at home in "Buddhist" countries. (I know, I know, labels are misleading but still you get my drift !

We are planning to come back to Vung Tau on 24 August to study the possibility of staying there a few months (3/6) per year.

Hoping to may be meeting IRL, all the best to every forum member,

Roger Garin-Michaud aka Thubten Wangchuk
