Married and applying for Visa

Post new topic

Hi, me and my now husband got married last week, clearly we are in the process of applying for the visa for me to stay in belgium permanently with him. My question is, if these visas are taking so long to process, that is going to make me go over my visa stay. Is there leeway with the fact an application has been submitted i wont be classed as 'illegal' during the processing time?

We have known each other for years and always been staying with each other in this country or mine,; but always within the 90 day requirements and i am worried this is going to end up with us splitting again back to my own country not to get into trouble by overstaying?

Any insight would be amazing or advice on applying for visa inside of belgian (we are using a lawyer but majority of this conversation is between my husband and the lawyer as its in dutch and i am still learning). guess i'm just looking for some sort of reassurance or outline of what to expect.

thanks in advance

Hey! Iā€™m going to be doing the same thing. Are you in the States? is the visa application online?
