Dear Friends,  My name is Rich and I am new to the Malaysia Forum.  I have been an expat most of my life and have worked and lived in many countries.

Now, I am retired and am looking forward to checking out Malaysia (initially KL and Penang)  so shall be traveling to Malaysia for around four weeks a little later in the year and would welcome any advice as to where to stay; perhaps a modest hotel or AirBNB or a furnished apartment.  Where to look please? I would also like to explore MM2H and, if possible meet anybody who has taken this step (or even anyone who hasn't :-) .

Many thanks for your kind advice.

@zanaja

Good day to you. Congrats on the retirement

I am just getting things ready to be an expat. I am based in Canada.

I would appreciate any advice, information, agencies from someone who has lived the life of an expat. The pros and cons. Surprises you stumbled upon during your experiences. Things I should definitely know before I get ahead of myself.

Congrats to you too.

I will be happy to help in any way I can.

To start, I would suggest you think about where you are thinking of being an expat and why.

Are you thinking of working overseas?  In this case, you will need to review info on setting up a business in your chosen location or to review your CV/resume and check out all the job boards and the usual expat stuff.  Rather than loading other members, perhaps I could give you some tips via PM.

Good luck!

@zanaja nice to meet you. I am a foreigner with an mm2h visa. Glad to share with you any info.

As for KL and pen, you can just go on the airBnB app and find a place. KL is pretty big so you have to decide what you want to do. As for pen, just stay in the island (pulau Pinang) it's not that big with lots of stuff to do and see.

Many thanks for your kind offer of help.

Good to learn that you have MM2H as I am sure that is where I will conclude :-)  but I will probably take a month this year just to check out KL and Penang and maybe some other locations.  I shall look forward to your kind info and advice.
