Arrived in Cyprus April 2023. Applied for residency visa. To date it's still pending. Check status online regularly. My application states "in process". My husband's application says "pending issues" Any idea what that might mean.
@iontacar
Hello
Perfectly normal
It will take about 10 months plus
If you're lucky
Keep checking by text once they say its completed
Then don't wait for a letter you won't get one.
Go to immigration and check its there
Thanks for the info. I am regularly checking the text messages. Message changed for my husband to "pending issues" recently. Just curious as to what that might be.
@iontacar
How do you check the status online?
TIA
Not online. By phone Text 1199
-@iontacar
So you send an SMS to 1199 with ARC Number?
"pending issues" actually means "pending issue", i.e. your husband's card is on the verge of being issued, when we got the message, the cards were available about 10 days later!
@iontacar out of interest is this Temp Res visa?
@iontacar I was wondering when did you complete your application in 2023. We did ours in September and we are still waiting for our cards. like you we check using the SMS service but so far the message has not changed from “still waiting for review”
If you are waiting for bio-metric cards and it is the fist application I have been told they are not issuing until the second year! Could be BS from my immigration lawyer :-/ My application was accepted on the 20th Mar 2023 and still no card!
@iontacar
Sorry, but what is "XXXXXX"
@MacGeorge8035 April 2023. Hope you get yours sooner. The agency said 6 months but someone told us more like 11 months and that seems to be accurate.
@iontacar
Thank you and good luck for us all.
I have CAT F from 2016, but my wife applied in July 2023 for a FAMILY REUNION.
Very few if any Cat F applications permits have been issued since 2018/19 .. it's a mess
What number do you need to check immigration status, I have tried ARC number without success - number is invalid . This thread mentions a 6 digit application number , where is this ? Can anyone help?
@L and M the number you need is on one of the receipts you got when you made the application and paid your fees
Finally worked out which numbers to send to1199 and have been informed that our applications have been denied! No reason given - we meet and exceed all requirements imposed by the Cypriot government - this is a shocking development.
@L and M text 1199. Message should be STATUS and then your application no 6 digits/2024. Don't put the numbers that come after that.
The number we sent was the 6 digits followed by 2022 which is how long ago we made our initial immigration application.
@Toon
We have emailed our agent and will have to wait until tomorrow for a response . We have been here since September 2022 and our agent has continually told us that everything is OK with our applications and that they are always slow to issue a biometric card .
@L and M That’s a disaster. Is this the Cat F visa or the temporary visitors visa?
@Toon
I spoke with a Cypriot lawyer last week and they said the exact same thing.
@L and M Hi, sorry to hear your having trouble, doesn't sound promising for myself and family who are planning to come out on the 17th June and apply for Pink Slip.
When you say agent, do you mean an official lawyer?
@L and M sorry to hound you with so many questions but you mentioned you meet and exceed all criteria.
What exact criteria have you met? I want to make sure I am trying to match the criteria you mention as if you exceed it and I am only just meeting it. Then i might not apply.
Thanks for you help
@ileautomobiles
They deal with all issues encountered by expats - immigration , tax & property purchase. Thankfully we haven't purchased a property as we have been renting .
@ileautomobiles
Specifically the amount of income needed ,which I think is designed to prevent expats from living in Cyprus . We supplied all the paperwork (bank statements,utility bills etc.) and insurance that we were asked for . I have a tax number for Cyprus and will be paying Cypriot tax in July .
@L and M
Hi,
Sorry just trying to clarify the criteria, is it the below that you met and exceeded?
1. Copy of Passport
2. Copy of Entry Visa
3. Criminal Record - Certified
4. Medical Exam
5. Letter issued by bank of 10 years covering possible repatriation expenses
6. Health Insurance Plan A
7. Rental Agreement - Stamped
8. Proof of €28k per couple income/pension
9. Cyprus Bank Statement showing €28k deposit
10. Marriage Certificate - Certified
@L and M
Hi,
Again sorry just trying to clarify, is this a 3rd party agent or an official lawyer?
I'm just curious as to if you are working directly with an immigration lawyer or if its a 3rd party agent?
Thanks, and again sorry for so many questions
Good evening
This seems to be a very common and distressing thread
We all come to Cyprus to lead a quiet unassuming life but the authorities seem to have since brexit a different agenda.
We relocate and put our hearts and soul into this.
We wait patiently for each pink slip card to be issued but there is a underlying dread it will be refused nearly a year after application.
Whilst I understand people get rejected for certain reasons we have to live under a cloud every year.
Can the governing body of expat.com look to see if there is an underlying trend here?
And perhaps advise or contact the authority directly to express our concerns?
Just a thought......
@Toon I read recently on an immigration website they're not issuing the F visa any more.
@iontacar
They have not issued many if any cat F visas since 2018/019.... As I've posted here before even with cat F route application at the old financial rates (which seems to be the attraction but are out of date and no longer applicable to TCNs) and each applicant still needs to get a pink slip whilst waiting and fulfill those requirements ..so to me is a waste of time and effort....

Nothing Expat.com can do, all you can do is contact the consulate. But there are different issues all over Europe all because of Brexit.
@ileautomobiles Hope this helps to put your mind at rest. We arrived in 2022 so did not need the criminal record certificate or the health checks but your list looks complete. The only thing we did different was transfer €30,000 into the Cypriot bank on the advice of our agent.
We had no problems on our first application, on our renewal we needed €8,000 in our Cypriot bank plus proof of income over the previous 12 months of at least €28,800 coming into our Cypriot bank from pensions etc.
@SimCityAT I have contacted the consulate on this matter twice, I am still waiting for a reply.
@kevinlewis2323
As much as I agree with your comments sadly there is not much we can do...however anyone and everyone impacted by the current mechanisms failures etc can contact the competent authority at. minister@moi.gov.cy
I also think the whole system is designed to make it difficult and deter certain people whilst making more money as part of Cyprus plan to attract high net worth individuals... Not a good look in my opinion...
One thing I do know if it wasn't for the large expat community in my village (more like a small town now) most of the businesses bars tavernas cafes etc would not be open for business... And their patrons in the main are not high net worth individuals....
