The best months to rent an apartment in Portugal

Good day,

My rent contract is ending in 2 months, but I'm considering asking the landlord to extend it for a few more months (until the end of September). My question is, is it worth it? Will there be any real difference if I move in summer or in autumn?

From what I've heard (and my logic tells me this, too), it should be easier to find an apartment closer to winter, but I couldn't find any statistics to prove it and see the real difference in prices for +- the identical apartments.

UPD. A little more context: I'm not searching for a flat in the center of  Lisbon or Porto but rather somewhere outside or in a smaller city with a good connection to bigger cities. My top areas are: Espinho, Estoril,  Aveiro, Coimbra, and other similar.

@UrbanScribe In a university town with a large student population, such as Coimbra, June and July may be easier months than September to find rental accommodation. Many rentals will have been snapped up by students by the time the academic year begins in September.
