49cc motorbike lost license plate

Post new topic

Domethrice

I have a 49cc motorbike that either the license plate fell of or was stolen. I believe the latter of the 2. First question is since it's 49cc is it required to have the plate as I know a riders license is not required. It would be hard to get a new plate as im in Nha Trang and it's registered in Viet Tri, Pho Tho. I can do this it'll just take a couple of months til I'm back up there.

@Domethrice

I just bought one of these three weeks ago, and was required to register it and get a license plate on it, but no operator license required.

Member Travelfar is correct.

May I ask whose name the bike is in? (i.e. the name on the blue card)

@Aidan in HCMC it is in my wife's name

@Travelfar as I thought appreciate the response. Apparently there are people here that can make the plate. I guess that's fine as long as I have the paperwork

Understood, thanks.

That certainly simplifies matters. I do believe that she will have to attend personally to arrange for the new plate. I went through a similar situation a couple of years back in Saigon, and the registered owner was required to be there with me.

That said, as she is your wife perhaps you could handle this by proxy for her(?). I'd hate to hear of you making the trip all the way Phu Tho province alone, only to find you couldn't do it yourself.

Please keep us updated on how this progresses for you. We'd certainly appreciate it.
