Getting charged for electric and water while out of country

Hello

I always turn off my water And electricity when I leave Thailand. There is an access panel in the hallway of my condo that I can turn off the water and a circuit breaker in my room to turn off electricity coming in.

I was gone just under two months but got a bill for electric and water while I was gone. I didn't show anyone that I turned it off or take any pictures because it's never been a problem in the past. They showed me pictures and both the water and electric meter has changed. I don't understand how this happens. I turned on my circuit breaker and looked at the electric meter, and it was not moving. It has a disc revolves.

Since no one saw me do this they want to believe that I didn't turn off the water and there is a leak in my room possibly in the wall or the toilet is leaking.

No one else has a key to my room. I never rent it out.

It isn't a huge bill, but I don't wanna set a precedent that I'm going to be charged every time I'm not using it. What are my options or do I have any?

Only thing i can think of.... Did you close the switches on exactly the date the meter is checked for monthly billing???

Maxi Mari

Try to check if there is a switch also under the meter to disconnect both at meter and in room.

In my case they come to read on the 9th of each month, if I stop it after then first month will have some kWh charged, and just the 2nd month will be zero but in this case there will be a minimum of 24.xx tb that are charged for basic line connection.

I thought don't use don't pay. If u turn it off did someone have access to your supply.  i went away turned of at mains the water was ok as supply only available from inside.

Interesting idea about a switch underneath the box. I will check. But

it's a large panel with many units meters.

No one has access to my room so it's odd but there is new management

and some things have changed. Such as when the meters are checked.

Thanks guys for your input 😊😊

Puzzled by this . I leave my condo for up to 10 weeks when i go to work but i leave the electric switched on for the fridge , printer etc. Usual bill for these periods when the apartment is empty is around 240 THB , not exactly life changing money .

Same with the water bill , the apartment is empty but my girlfriend will occasionally pop in past if i ask her to collect mail / parcels from the Juristic office . I wouldn't turn off the water in case she needed to use the bathroom ( sometimes the grandchildren are with her ) . The water costs for the times the apartment is empty is around 60 THB .
