Hi there,

This may not be a unique situation but i have had some difficulty figuring out what is requied.

I am a Irish Citizen (irish passport) living in northen ireland, working for a UK Based company

I am looking at potentially moving to denmark for better opportunities,   However the UK Based company has offered for me to go remote working as i get settled

How would i deal with the tax/payroll situation,  Obviously this would only be temporary as I do indeed seek better opportunities (Software Developer)

I have seen some advice to get a Danske Bank account in UK and use it to withdraw money in DK?  Others have suggested using an online tool such as Wise to transfer between the countries

Lastly,  Since i am an Irish citizen and thus part of the EU,  Could someone outline the process i would need to follow to live within denmark,

From my research - Is it really as simple as:

  • Finding a house or accomodation in DK
  • Moving in - applying for a residence permit
  • Apply for CPR Number
  • Open DK Bank account, get Registered for heatlhcare etc
  • Continue learning danish (This i have already began)

Thanks for any answers or support!  It would be great to meet some people i could talk to about this!

Hi,

You'll be taxed of your foreign income, but Denmark and Ireland have signed a double taxation convention.

You'll have to find an accomodation, and then you go to the International House to get formalities done (tax card, healthcare) the https://ihcph.kk.dk/

It's okay to state an address at a hostel or a hotel ibeginning if those are willing to let you register temporarily there. Some are okay with it, others not.

There are language schools all over the country which offer free language training. If you want to practise the language further, make a post on FB, and you will certainly receive a lot of offers from people who'll help you.

The paperwork should be no problem at all, however, finding a housing may be. It's not easy, prices are high, and the market is full of scammers. I would almost say that all ads on FB are fake.
