Following the example of @abthree and with the goal of bringing people together, I will be in Ilha de Itamaraca to do my GV PF registration and will be staying for about 2 weeks spanning the weekends of Sept 14 and Sept 21.

Given that I started my investigations into moving to Brazil almost 1 year ago, I am glad to celebrate this small win hopefully with one or more of the members who helped make this happen.

If anyone of you is interested in joining, the Orange Praia Hotel - which is next to the Forte Orange main attraction - is where we can hold the event.

@PeterItamaraca has offered to help with the booking if staying at the hotel.

Looking forward to my 2 weeks on the island and hopefully meeting in person.

Peter Itamaraca

I have a feeling I may be in the vicinity...!

I am only a stones throw away but all depends on my work schedule sadly :(

If there is sufficient support for this event, and I am only talking about a few people here, we might see if we can get some activity or other sponsored - like a boat trip round the island, snorkeling on the reef, buggy rides, rain forest trekking, or similar.

If anyone needs some help with accommodation at the Orange Praia Beach Hotel please let me know - we can get good discounts there...

This event is still happening and there is even a plan to do several other activities ... Please send a message to @peter itamaraca (the resident expert) if you are planning to come and we'll keep you posted on the other activities....

I am really eager to experience the beginning of the dry season in the nordeste.

@Peter Itamaraca  Hey Peter! This is Chris A. I’m on this site now

Pablo888

A gente, I am on my last day on the island.  That's why I was rather "scarce" online.

We had quite a few expat lunches, dinners, and even a soccer game.

Not advertising anything here, but I am really glad that @ctaVeteran joined the site....

Looking forward to another opportunity to get together.

Until next time....

Peter Itamaraca

Hi Chris - welcome!

abthree

09/26/24 @Pablo888.  Sounds like you had a great time -- terrific!  I wish we could have gone; we actually got as far as checking airfares, but it would have been too big a lift right now.  I like Recife and it's been years since I've been there and my Better Half has never been there at all, and we both want to see Itamaracá, so we're past time.  We hope to make it before too long.

@Pablo888 Sorry I didn’t see you and Peter (and others). Next time!

Pablo888

No worries.  I am back in California and am already planning my December trip.  Any suggestions where the team is meeting for Natal or Réveillon?

So much to see and so many to meet...
