Hellooo Mauritius,

My wife is resident Mauritius, we are maried for 5 years, I'm belgian. We live for the moment in France but will move to Mauritius in 2 years max.

We are organising everything ...

Question 1: We will put our personnal stuff into a 20 feet ctn. My wife is resident in Maurice with passport and ID card. Do we need to pay income taxes for the container as my wife is resident Mauritius? What is the process to follow?

Question 2: My wife doesn't have a licence drive. We will buy a car in Mauritius. Could she buy it on her name and will not pay taxes on the car?

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Kind regards,

Pascal

  1. There is no tax on bringing PERSONAL stuff here provided it is all legal & not going to be used to make an income.
  2. Price of car is same as any other Mauritian will pay - & depends on car.
