Income tax in Turkey  can be MASSIVE.

A few subtopics

-Capital gains on sale of property (however what I understand if is free after 5 years it is free (but rules in Turkey change frequently).

-The minimum of USD 200 k in Tapu will has some consequences as well (lets see how this works out, but relatively fine I think)

-Income tax on bank account (even if a lower rate) I would not consider putting a lot of money here (ratings are not too good), still not too bad if I was sure my money is not going away through depreciation or bankrupcy (Turkey and its banks have to do something I think)

-Imposing taxes are good, but with the rules in place I try not to generate any income (not so difficult as banks in the Netherlands or Hungary will not allow me to open a saving account anyway)

-Local taxes in Turkey (for expats point of view) are incredibly low.

-There was a lot of noise on Alcohol and Cigarettes (I did not see too much (but perhaps in TRY)

-Perhaps Turkey will go into the direction of Georga (property) ie charging 2% per year on real value (for expats I think that would be an issue (for us also a reason not to consider Georgia (Batumi)) I hope not, but if would be a sensible thing to so even if it would create quite some uproar.
