Welcome to the forum. Before you think of moving to Malta you should come here as a tourist. Just get acquainted with this country before making a decision to live and work here. As a tourist you do not need a visa. However, whilst you are over here you can contact the many employment agencies and have a look what job they have to offer. Just be aware of the fact that after Brexit the UK is considered a TCN country and you need a visa to work This will be organized by any potential employer. Malta remains being international with many employees from third world countries. Now and again you can also meet people from other EU countries, but be aware the wages in Malta are probably 50% below the level of the UK. For job offers on this platform just click on the beam above and you will see what sort of employment is available. Good luck with your venture.

You can apply for a visa or residence permit to stay in Malta for more than 90 days within a 180-day period. The type of visa or permit depends on your reason for moving, such as work, study, or retirement. For resident permit you need to contact brexit.identita(at)gov.mt Regarding employment you can register with Jobplus to search for a job or use the EURES, but as hanselmar5 already mentioned, the wages are below UK level. The average income for male employees in 2023 was €22,096, whilst the average income for female employees was €19,605, but this is only from the statistic. If you find an employer, he need to apply for a work permit for you. You will also need to consider in which area you want to live. Malta's cost of living can be high, especially in popular areas like Valletta and Sliema. While Malta can be affordable in certain aspects like groceries and public transport, housing costs in popular areas can be high.

Applying for a residence card after ninety days is not automatic like it was before brexit, it's not any different to other TCN's.
