The reason for this post is to convey my message regarding the culture of studying here compared to rest of the world. Every university outside of Hungary has a 24 hour library service available with 24 hour gym access as well. Why doesn’t Debrecen in particular meet that quota half at-least but making libraries timing From 6am-12am?

there would be a need to pay staff yes but isn’t it better for the economy of the county? It’s creating job opportunities for people.

Every country is different, univercities don't come with a gym normally. You go to one of the chains.

From 3 December readers can visit the Life Sciences Library until midnight. This year, for the first time, the library is open until midnight on Saturdays as well. On Sundays it is available from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The new opening hours will be in effect until 1 February.

But why don't you ask them why they don't open 24 hours? No one here can tell you.

I just checked where I went to Uni in the UK; the library building is open 24/7, but only has professional librarians available Mon > Fri 9 am to 8 pm; all the facilities are open 24/7, so you can use the internet facilities to join an online class using your laptop, or even borrow one from the Library.  The Silent or Group Study zones are open 24/7 to study as you wish, there is no Gym and if you need access to specialist things, then you will need the help of a librarian.  The growth of the Internet has opened home study possibilities to all.

There are a couple of Uni libraries open 24/7 in Budapest but I don't know what is offered.

But the Debrecen one has a lot of material available online.

The internet has liberalised access to all.  I had to check what was available today; when I did my course (logistics) we had very few reference documents and the internet was in its infancy; many of us from around the world became contributors/authors for the content for future courses.  Nevertheless, we still had course documents to prepare and submit, I can recall when a new book was published by our Chartered Institute and how we reacted when we realised that 3 of our cohort had contributed to it.

Imagine doing an Open University course now compared to the old days when everything was done by snail mail. I'm sure the courses have reduced their time to complete it.

A former colleague of mine did an OU language-based/current affairs course back in the mid-80s, he was already some years into it when I met him, and it took him a further 3 years to finish.  There was also the cost involved in sending books and coursework by snail mail.  We were living in Germany at the time, and even back then, mail costs were high.

Our No. 1 HU Fluffyette is at Metropolitan University, here in Budapest.  The library is available more or less 24/7.

There's no gym as such but they get discounts at gyms nearby.
