Dual national - which passport(s) to scan for OWP application

Post new topic

Hi, for OWP application I need to scan all pages of my passport. But I am a dual national and I have two passports from two different countries.

My question is, do I only need to scan the passport that I am using for that OWP application, or do I have to scan the passports for both of my nationalities?

Thanks a lot!

For an Open Work Permit (OWP) application, you generally need to provide a scanned copy of the passport you are using for your application. This includes all pages with stamps, visas, or other markings. However, there are some situations where additional information about your second nationality might be required:

1. If Dual Nationality is Relevant:

If your second nationality affects your eligibility for the OWP (e.g., if you are claiming special privileges based on it or if you have traveled extensively on that passport), the authorities may ask for a scan of your second passport.

2. If Requested by the Application Portal:

Some application forms specifically ask for information or documentation related to all of your nationalities. In such cases, you may need to upload scans of both passports.

Recommended Steps:

Check Application Requirements: Review the instructions for the specific OWP application you’re completing. Look for any mention of dual nationality or multiple passports.

Provide Relevant Information: If unsure, include a note in your application explaining your dual nationality and mention which passport you are using for the application.

Seek Clarification: If you’re still uncertain, contact the immigration authority (e.g., IRCC if you're applying to Canada) for guidance
