English stand up comedy in Mauritius

Post new topic

marksampsoncomedian

Hi,

Hope you're all well.

I'm a South African comedian working internationally, sadly only in English.

I'm in Mauritius often now as I do a lot of comedy on cruise ships.

I know there are a lot of resident South Africans and some English speaking tourists in Mauritius.

Do you think an English comedy show could work and where would you suggest to host my show?

Thanks so much.

Mark

Hello and welcome Mark !

Why not contact clubs in the West and make an offer (stand up comedy show).

You can try smaller venues like clubs and pubs to get a feel of how people respond.

Thanks Bhavna

I've sent a few emails

Probably need to go visit in person

Hoping someone on here will have an idea of a good spot where lots of South Africans go to eat and drink!

All the best

Happy New year

Hi Mark

Happy new year !

First, the obvious !

A venue suitable for your act depends on how many people you can get to watch.

The best would be Caudan Arts Centre, midway between where most English speakers live from the UK and RSA, or Trianon Convention Centre.

Smaller venues could be Big Willy’s in Tamarin, Institut Français in Rose Hill.

I wish you good luck

Thanks so much

I have heard and emailed all except the last one but surely they would need a French speaking show?

😅

This sounds promising

Thank you!

Hello.

More English than you think and not tourists.

marksampsoncomedian

That's wonderful

Please let me know of any WhatsApp groups or how I can reach out to the English speaking locals when I do my shows!

Last week of February.

I'm on ***

Maybe you have some ideas ?

Thanks again

Good luck with the show(s). We got our tickets for the Paul Taylor show on https://ticketbox.mu/ and heard about it via the expat magazine; I believe.
