Hello everyone,

Every year, we invite you to share your experiences with the cost of living in in Türkiye, especially in the region or city you live in. Your insights will greatly help members planning their move to Türkiye or already living there.

Here are some points to guide you; the idea is to provide average prices for each category:

What is the cost of renting or buying an apartment or house in Türkiye?

What are the typical fares for public transportation such as buses, subways, trains, trams, or taxis?

Could you share the average monthly cost of your grocery shopping?

How much does health insurance cost? What is the price of a medical consultation in Türkiye?

What are the tuition fees for children?

What are the average monthly costs for utilities, such as electricity, gas, water, internet, and phone plans?

How much do you spend monthly on leisure activities?

If there are other expenses you find relevant, please feel free to share them!

Thank you for your contribution.

Turkey is big and prices can vary quite a bit depending on the area, we are a semi-retired couple, for Alanya area we count EUR 3000 pm (too much I know, EUR 2000 is possibly also fine).

Biggest expenses

-Restaurants (we go 3 or 4 x pw), getting more and more expensive (almost to the level of western Europe), for a proper restaurant EUR 30 to 50 (per month EUR 600)

-Alcohol, I drink, much more expensive than in Western Europe, but still acceptable, but a big part of our budget (EUR 500 pm I would say)

-Cigarettes, very cheap, I smoke 3 packages per day, so around EUR 200 pm)

-Normal shopping around EUR 400 pm (cleaning things, food, market, supermarket)

-Depreciation and replace machines (washing machine, TV dishwasher, hoover, ..) EUR 100 pm

-Maintenance fees of the comlex EUR 60 pm

-Audible/Netflix EUR 20 pm

-Internet 100 mb EUR 17 pm

-Mobile contracts EUR 20 pm

-Local taxes and mandatory insurance for property EUR 20 pm

-Health insurance, for the two of us EUR 250 pm

-Small repairs, EUR 50 pm

-and more ...

The amounts above are at the high side and could (and are) a bit cheaper

Expenses in Turkey are increasing (in EUR (the central bank does a good job)

But Turkey is definelity not the cheap country (and it should not be).

Turkey does not need poor German pensioners who live on a budget of EUR 1000 pm (they do not go to restaurants, try to save on everything, ..). Russians realized that things are expensive. (they leave) and so people from Western Europe on a limited budget.

Lets see what happens, but quality of life is important
