Welcome portugalphilip!

portugalphilip

Obrigardo.
tudo bem ?

Julien

should the answer be "fine, thanks"? I don't speak Portuguese unfortunately :P

portugalphilip

Sorry about that.
The answer in Portuguese is the same as the question.
This language is really difficult but fun.
I tried all the books and CD's to learn but most of it useless as there is many types of Portuguese (Brazilian , do montes etc.)
Then there is the accents.
Thanks for the welcome.
Take care.

Julien

No problem at all ;) I used speak Spanish with Brazilians, I could understand spoken portuguese but it's quite different from written portuguese.

How long did it take you to learn?

All the best,

Julien

Hello Julian ,
Still learning :) most people do not understand me but I get about 20-50% of what they say.I can read and understand 70%.
The television helps a lot but some of the translations in the films is what they mean rather than a direct translation probably due to the fact that most of the time there is no direct translation (Babel fish translations are garbage Brazilian garbage at best.)
Regards.
Philip.
