Organize your move to Canada

Post new topic

Julie

Hi all,

we invite you to share your experience about moving to Canada.

Here is a list of questions which might help the ones preparing their move to Canada:

What would you bring and what would you leave behind?

Is it a good idea to bring furniture or domestic appliances?

Any foodstuffs that are banned in Canada?

Is it better to bring a car or to buy one once settled in Canada?

Any advice for the ones who are moving to Canada?

Thank you in advance for your participation :)

Hi, from my own experience i didnt bring that much when i moved to Canada except for cash :) because the prices for furniture and cars and pretty much the same as in Europe if not more expensive plus when taking a plane you dont have that much allowence when it comes to luggage so i basically brought the bare minimum i.e clothes, laptop, camera. no food as there are many restrictions imposed by customs.
i got all my furniture from Ikea, you can also buy 2nd hand from classified sites like kijiji (bought my car on this site) and craigslist.
hope this helps.
