Anyone know anything new about Sirte? Was working there when it all kicked of in February. When watching the news it looked as if much of it has been destroyed. Are people moving back?

mancunian

yes people are moving back, and refusing any aids from Misturata, considering them the main cause for their losses. but yes Sirt was destroyed and people are trying to get back to normal like many Libyan cities.

I went to Siret few days ago. The majority of the people from Siret are still away. Don't want to return because either were involved with the Tyrant or don't care about their city. The city is empty. There is destruction but not so bad. Musratah too was destroyed.
You don't really feel safe there as I noticed from some fresh paintings on walls that there are still pro Qerdaffi around in Siret and still think they are superiors. What the heck..They just can't get it he is a dark history already.

If only it was that simple.  Everyone in Libya has suffered because of the conflict and some continue to suffer.  If things are ever going to be peaceful again, everyone has to put their hate and prejudices aside.  Without forgiveness and some sort of reconciliation, all be have been for nothing.  The ball is in your court.

Here is an interesting article about the current situation in Sirte.

Sirte was never a town it is a freakn desert with scatered tents, Gaddhafi wanted to make it a city. It will never be a city and all the Africans who he brought and gave them citizenship like our little friend  Moel here, they will be sent home. End of a dark chapter of our libyan history.

Mo_marrakech : Moel hasn't even posted on this thread, why the hate? It seems your happy to start your own Dark History.

I lived in Sirte for 9 months and found the Libyan people their to be very friendly and had no issues with them. It is exagerated how many Africans from outwith Libya lived there. If it was your town that had more money spent on it you wouldn't complain. I hope all Libyans whoever they supported look to the future and make a success out of their country. Good Luck
