Greetings all.  We're coming into Cuenca on Jan. 11th to stay for five days.  We've looking for a nice hotel or short term vacation rental and are getting mixed messages, particularly via "Trip Advisor."  Thought we'd found a nice and cheap place -- Villa Nova Inn -- but then found some really bad reviews on Trip Advisor.  Who has stayed at a nice, clean, pretty hotel, with wifi and maybe a nice view in Old Town that doesn't break the bank??  We'd love to stay at $50-$75/night.  Is this possible?

Thanks much,
Toni

Of course.  Hotel Cuenca is a good option--updated rooms, two restaurants, conveniently located in the historic district.

Thanks much Eddstaton.

I'm assuming you've stayed there.  Looking for only personal experiences to narrow down these choices.  I love you bloggers!!

Hi,

It may be too late for your stay.  Just checking back on the blog since we got back.  We highly recommend Casa Ordonez.  Clean, comfortable, quiet, centrally located, very helpful staf, excellent breakfast.  It is on the higher end of the B&Bs.  We paid $70/night for their largest room. Tell Alberto, Tom & Wendy recommended it.

Have a good, stay, Wendy

We are staying at Inca Real on General Torres st in Cuenca. very charming and very old . we like the funky victorian ambiance but there is problem with internet in some rooms. BUT, it is easy to get internet in the lobby tables and sofa. We pay $60 nite for very large delux 2 double beds. (dont forget they charge a lot of taxe here. about 25%.) smaller rooms available less $$
