Hi you guys! I'm Holly and I'm from Kentucky. My husband and I are planning to move to Ireland in January 2013. I'm super excited and just starting to get things prepped for the move. I'm here cause I'm hoping to meet people who have done this before and who might have advice about how to make this transition go as smoothly as possible. I'm totally interested in making friends too. :)

Husband is from Ireland- he moved to Kentucky a few years ago when I graduated college, but we've found Kentucky just isn't a good place for us. His family are all in Ireland. I've been to Ireland many, many times- I spent a semester there in college, worked there for a summer, and have taken numerous holidays there.

I like tons of stuff- mainly arty stuff like film, literature, writing, etc. I'm not much of a sports fan, but I do enjoy those sports like hurling where people move around a lot and routinely bleed out of their faces. Big fan of good drinks and also a pet-lover.

I don't know how to end an introductory post...blah!

Hello, Holly. What part of Ireland are you moving to? Best of luck with the logistics.

Thanks for the good wishes! We're planning on Dublin. Husband's siblings are mostly all there, and we're guessing we might have an easier time getting jobs there. I've spent the most amount of time in Limerick (which is where his parents live), and while there's a warm place for it in my heart, I don't want to settle there.

You're welcome. Dublin makes good sense.

How do you like living in Galway? What made you choose that particular city? It's really gorgeous there, isn't it? Galway is probably my favorite city in Ireland, but I would worry about being isolated there, since it's a smaller city, and not being able to find work.

Though reading through some of the posts here, it seems that everyone thinks Dublin is a big unfriendly shit hole. :)
