Food preperation

Post new topic

Gibraltar

Hi Guys

In Libya is it necessary to sterilize fruit and vegetables before eating or cooking?

If so what method do you use? What tablets/liquids etc are availble locally?

Also any other food preperation tips would be useful.

Water supplies in residential locations generally come from a borehole - which is usually filtered but not treated.

We've been expat in Africa some 13 years now and are probably more used to dodgy water than newbies and we use tap water straight from the tap for cooking.

You can get sterilizing products such as Milton from some of the supermarkets and pharmacies.

Oh and BTW, the water from boreholes is as hard as nails. You'll need to descale your applicances regularly and for anyone with long hair, have fun...
