Dear sır/ma,

I will like to ask you about the prospects of studying in Iceland especially at the Phd level  for an international student from west africa  and also the prospect of securing a part time job while studying ,  and how easy that will be  with no knowledge of the icelandic language

Regards

the first thing to figure out is if the area of study you're interested in is available in Iceland and if it makes sense to study here. Obviously such a small country doesn't have unlimited possibility when it comes to phd subjects.

You can check out the two main schools in Reykjavik to see what's possible. They are Háskóla Íslands and Háskólinn í Reykjavík:

if your English is decent you should be able to work in a café or shop, but these jobs might be hard to find- at least I've seen plenty of postings on message boards in Iceland from people looking for work. It's definitely best to find this kind of job in person though.

I am from Adelaide, South Australia, I am currently studying renewable energy engineering, what is the process of getting a job in the Geo-thermal power stations? is there much demand?

Hi,
I'm planning to study at The University of Iceland, commencing in the Autumn semester this year, and I have a question about applying for a student permit.  On the immigration website it says that it takes 90 days for applications to be processed, but it also says that students commencing in August have until July 15 to submit their application.

Obviously July 15 is much less than 90 days before August.  Does anyone know anything about this?  Any pointers on the application process?
Cheers.

the information on what is required for the visa to study in Iceland is available here. Note that you have to prove you have the funds to support yourself while studying.
