A new air carrier, Vietstar Airlines, has grown the ranks of airlines here. The other seven are Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar Pacific, Vasco, Vietjet, Air Mekong, Indochina Airlines and Northern Service Flight Company.

Vietstar Airlines will also provide private aircraft and air ambulance transportation, and flights to remote and island areas.

Prices on the HCMC <<>> Ha Noi run have come down recently.

VietNam Airlines is also flying DIRECT to Gatwick, England 4 times weekly using Boeing 767-200 aircraft picking up passengers from Ha Noi and HCMC. It arrives early in the day in Gatwick and returns around midday. VA already serves Paris, Frankfurt and Moscow.

AirAsiaX is killing it's Euro services (Gatwick & Paris) because of new taxes an emissions penalties. No more cheap flights!

Yet another carrier, Emirates, has added Ho Chi Minh City to it's route map. Emirates offers great service at reasonabe fares.

Watch your baggage limits - most carriers think you can live on 22 kilograms!

You can't beat EVA for service or fares in to Toronto, either. Savings are in the hundreds of dollars over Cathay, etc.

as you mentioned EMIRATES: They offer 30 KG - allowance for everyone.

though it's the best to avoid their B777, as they are like sardine cans (10 seats per row when this aircraft is actually meant to be operated with 9 seats per row - unfortunately, AUSTRIAN does the same and ETIHAD is re-fitting the B777 cabi as well - B777 in Y-class is best to be avoided)
