My wife and I went for a trip to Thailand for a little under a month.  We came back with such a love for the Country that a month after coming home we want to move there.  We can see ourselves leading a much more joyus life there then where we live in Canada.
Our issue is of course, what's the employment like for someone moving from Canada to Thailand?
Thanks for any help

Will do.  Thanks!

I guess what i'm really looking for is peoples experiences with finding work there.  How hard was it to obtain work?  What line of work did you find?  etc etc

Thanks and we appreciate any help.

Some foreigners complain that , living there is not as fun as when they go on a holiday , however , there are many people really enjoy the the life there.

Believe me i have heard exact the same complain from foreigners who come to Sweden (even from the Canadians). The grass is always greener on the other side.

If you are an english speaking canadian , you may consider being an english teacher( popular job among foreigners ).but it's also depending on your profiles.

Teaching is most in demand work for expats here in Bangkok. Check international schools and submit your CV. For sure you can find one.

You can search for: St.Andrews International School, Bangkok Patana School, International School of Bangkok, Ruamrudee International School.

I suggest for you to apply online first before you finalize your move here.

There are many well known international schools in Bangkok and they employ qualified teachers with good qualification.  These teachers will enjoy all the benefits as expatriates such as visa, work permit, free flight home, accommodation in nice house or apartment etc.  They get good salary package too.

Then you see some people are teaching English but do not enjoy the good salary, benefits etc from smaller schools.  These schools may employ someone just because they have blue eyes and blond hair without looking much at their qualifications or experience.

For any other kind of job, leaving away from the teaching part, is quite hard to find something, It took me almost a year to find something. But I am quite happy with the work that i currently do. Cant say the same about the salary, but at least is enough to be able to live very well. Thing that in my own country nowadays i wouldn't be able to.

Answering your actual question of what did i find is: Art Director for a design agency.

As einram suggest is better to find a job before actually moving here, however the thai people really like presence and personality - for any other job that isnt teaching -

If you guys want to apply for teaching, i suggest to go to ajarn.com

If not teaching, then jobsdb.com, craigslist.co.th, monster.co.th,  jobrapido-th.com/, freejobthai.com/
