Hark Expats! Tis that time of year again, where Kuwait celebrates its National and Independence days, 51 years free of British Rule and 21 years since the Gulf War.

Wow, that second statement really makes the years show, especially to those that were born and raised here during that period (the AWESOME generation as I like to refer to us, I mean them :D)

The Ministry has graciously decreed that since the 25th is falling on a saturday, it will be compensated for on monday, hence we will be enjoying a much needed long vacation till Tuesday the 28th of Feb.

IF given the opportunity to travel, I suggest you take it.

Last year there was a spectacular show put on (50, 20, 5) and this year will prove no different, however, a word of precaution if you will.

The Gulf road in particular can be quite dangerous to navigate with locals doing stunts in celebration of these holidays with little regard for the safety of other drivers. not to mention the presence of the evil foam canisters which if memory serves are banned. this does not mean they will not be available to those willing to pay for them. Foam is incredibly difficult to wash off of cars.

if you are indeed staying in kuwait, please try not to be out on the streets in the evening, atleast in a car, take a walk, enjoy the area around your houses, explore etc. some people are not shy to pull open your car door and douse u with foam, or whatever else they get their hands on, hair removal spray was used previously.

tempers do tend to flare as well around that time, so try not to get into any confrontation.

Enjoy a relaxing weekend, and be sure to write about how you spent it right here :)

Auf Wiedersehen, Arrivederci, aurevoir and ma'asalama :)

wish that ministry will penalize those companies not adhering to this order hehe.

not exactly; see technically saturday is not a day off, some companies will allow it, others wont, the ministry decreed they will give it off, but they didnt say all companies must. technically if u have work on saturday usually, u shouldnt work next saturday.
