Hi all,

I will be relocating to Perth with my kids and wife this year. I  am from India. How is life in Perth,is it expensive? is it also very multicultural and what are the nice neighborhoods to live in?. Sorry for all the questions. Would like to plan ahead and also  make new friends. I am an Engineer by profession and i hear perth has lots to offer in the mining field for engineers and such.

Thank you,

Anuj

Anuj,

Not sure if you have made the right choice to move over to Perth (Australia) with you wife and kids, before securing a job. It may not be wise, unless you are bringing a lot of money there to sustain you and family during your job hunting.

My wife and I are also Australia permanent residents. We have a 7 month old son. I will be moving over to Australia (either Sydney or Melbourne) ALONE in the following year. Presently, I am working in a multinational company (MNC), engineering related field. I will asking for internal transfer to work in Australia, meaning to say I will be secured with a job when I go to Australia. Once I settle well there say for 6 months to 1 year, then I will bring my wife and son over. Personally, I think this is a better choice.

A thought for you to think through.

Hallo Josh yes thank you very much for your informative feedback I indeed already have work in the Perth area and can start immediately as soon as i touch grounds. We will be staying with a friend who works at the University there (UWA). He offered us accomodation until we find something for ourselves. It might take a while because i here you need good references.

And what about schools for the kids (8 and 11). Can u reccomend me good schools in the UWA Perth area and public transportation is it reliable?.

Sorry for so many questions. Thank you.

Hello Anuj,

Good to hear that you have already secured a job, which is very important for your and your family. I am afraid I do not have any advice for your children education.

Like you, I am a new permanent resident. You are ahead of me. I will only be moving over to Australia in the following year.

Enjoy your new life in Australia, Perth.

Josh
