Hi there,

I am from India, soon to be migrated to Accra. My husband's employer is providing unfurnished acco for 500 USD and furniture and appliances worth 3000 USD. Will 3000 USD suffice purchase of tv, dvd player, fridge, washing machine, microwave, stove, AC, computer apart from couch and cots? Please can some body tell me so that I can plan on what to take with me from here?

Thanks,

Smriti

I don't think you will get all the things you need for US$3000. It will probably cover the TV, fridge, washing machine, stove and one or two AC and perhaps the microwave. I suggest you bring a DVD player and a computer as they are relatively light and won't add much to your luggage. Look on Ghanaian websites for the things you need and then you can get an idea of Ghanaian prices.
If you need to get furniture you will need quite a lot more money unless you buy most of your things along the road!
If your employer is paying the shipping costs from India I suggest you put in as much as you can as things are not cheap here in Ghana.
Good luck with the move

Hi hkann,

Thanks for your valuable input. I just got the news that the houses come with ACs fit, so we dont have to buy them. But apart from that i think we have to get the rest. I will pass on your info to my husband who is currently purchasing things. Thanks,

best regards,

smrithi
