Chinese Restaurants/Chinese Food

Post new topic

Gabtar

Hi, does anyone know of any good, cheap Chinese restaurants in Asuncion, of the type that are everywhere in various Chinatowns around the world.  Not the large, expensive ones like the one near Shopping del Sol, but smaller family ones.
Additionally does anyone know where I can buy chinese ingredients like sesame seed oil, oyster, fish and hoi sin sauces, chinese 5 spice etc etc.  I cooked a stir fry the other day, and it just was not the same without these ingredients.
Thanks

Guide to Paraguay

For the real deal you have to head to Mercado Cuatro.  There is a "barrio chino" there with restaurants and stores. It is mostly along República Francesa.  Fu sin is good and so is El Paraiso.  The contact info is here: discoveringparaguay.com/home/asufood-asucomida/  You can get ingredients in the Barrio Chino or also try some of the Asian products vendors at Agroshopping (Tuesdays in the parking lot of Shopping Mariscal Lopez).
Suerte and happy eating!

Thanks for the info. I found the chinese restaurants in Rep Francesa, and they are what I was after.
I also found 2 chinese supermarkets in Mercado 4.  One was in Rep Colombia, about a 1/2 block from Peru, and the other was in Peru, between Francia and Ana Diaz.  Both sold Sesame Oil, Oyster sauce and other ingredients, but not Chinese 5 spice or fish sauce.  I went to Shopping Villa Mora to the Agromarket and there was one stall selling chinese ingredients, inc oyster sauce and sesame oil, again no chinese 5 spice or fish sauce.
I looked up the internet for a 5 spice recipe, bought the ingredients at a herb shop in Mercardo 4, and made it myself using a coffee grinder.
