Does anybody known what are the new requirements for Tourist Visa for Libya, apparently there was a recent change in the rules and there now seams to be a mass of confusion as to what is required, where you apply and how long it takes. Some of what I read is saying they now do visa on arrival for tourist but I can not confirmation on this.

Thanks

It's nothing new and there's more to it than just a visa on arrival.

Easy way: sign up with an official tour party, pay your money and do your thing.

Less easy way: Host in Libya applies to the immigration authorities for a tourist visa and provides copies of their passports, flight reservations etc. If approved, immigration contacts the airline in the host country. Passengers turn up for the flight and their names are checked off on the list provided by the immigration. Tourist visas are issued upon arrival.

Note: Tourist visas are NOT issued to holders of US, Israeli and most West African passports.

From ~May up until a couple weeks ago you could not pick up your tourist visa at the airport in Tripoli.  This has since been reversed (not that the summer tourist season is over).

I know of one US person getting a tourist visa, but it may have been through some academic agreement.

Also, check out this thread regarding tourist visas for US citizens.  It can be done, but I wouldn't want to guess at the success rate...

Why can't you link other forums here?

I did, but so did several people over at the lonely planet also wrote about their experiences on that site.

Are you guys worried about losing traffic to other sites?  Are you suggesting you have an inferior forum and are worried about competing forums and content?

If this is the case, I'll consider taking my ball and playing elsewhere.

Have to agree with gabacho....Admin need to get their $hit together either banning this but not that. Consistency is the key.
