Hi,

how does the healthcare system work in Bhutan ? Is it efficient ?

What are the main differences between public and private sectors?

Is it recommended to purchase private health insurance in Bhutan?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience !

Hi,

In order to help expats and soon-to-be expats, we would like to invite you to share your experience on this topic, with updated info on the healthcare system.

Thank you in advance,

Julie, as said by Parash, there is no private healthcare in Bhutan. Absolutely none. All doctors must work through government hospitals and are not allowed to open private practices. For locals, healthcare is free, and for others (tourists, expats etc), a minimal fee (around $5) is charged.
So there is no private healthcare insurance available. Or needed!
