our tv broke down a few months ago, and the guy that we bought it from has not given it back to us as of yet, everytime we ring it is always another excuse, he came to visit us last month and thought great our tv is back only he wanted the remote which he did'nt get, as my husband is computer literate and knows alot about gadets, my hubby would fix it but does'nt know where to get spare parts, anyways 6 months on and still no tv, we think he may have sold it to someone else! is this the part i am meant to say good job for criminality!  it is  a bit much! we have been living in this island for  6 years  have maltese residency etc., and yet.............. any helpful suggections i would rather get the tv back and not fixed and my husband will fix it himself even if it takes longer to get fixed its ours we paid for it after all we are now thinking of asking the tv company to take back their ariel which is installed why pay for womething which we have'nt got!
hoping for lots of useful comments

this guy must have an address in which he works or lives - go and get it and dont leave until you do. he clearly doesnt appear to be either efficient nor concerned at your predicament.

its possible he is having the parts issues of course...!!!!

why do you think he may have sold it on - is there some evidence of that or something makes you suspect it?

What make of tv is it?

have you tried to see what the supply of parts is like for this tv?

If it is a difficulty of getting parts wouldnt it be easier just to go and buy another tv. Plus IF and when you get the old one back (repaired or not) just sell it on or scrap it. If you had to scrap it as unrepairable you d have to replace it anyway

nor the ideal solution but it would get tv back in your household - personally i wouldnt have waited 6 months for him.

Hi Maura,

just go and get your TV back ! Waiting 6 months is not acceptable.

A repair might not even be worthwhile as the prices for TV's have come down a lot in the last years. Maybe that is the reason why nothing happened for 6 months.

i would have preferred if he said i cannot fix it, and if alastair could'nt get a part to fix it, then we would tell him to go and keep it, we have had the tv for a while and brought it from him direct so its only normal to send something back to your supplier if its not working. He got a lot of sales from us in the past when he was desperate for business, i suppose now that we are rich i can do what i want. if i was in the uk/ireland or elsewhere, i would have a citizens advise bureau and where to go next or they would take all details down and investigate for us and in most cases have them sued! there is nothing here to support a customer against thieves! we are looking into solutions to the issue. any  more ideas would be appreciated !

There is a Consumer Affairs Authority in Malta:

You can fill in a complaint online.

What happened with this in the end? What company did you use- you must have got his information from somewhere?

maura

he is maltese, sky world so you would think he would be a lot better with his customers ! we did tried to make contact and when he did tried to sell us a 22 inch for more than as we have leaflets selling tvs and a lot cheaper and got lost on that matter, however he did try to steal our remote of the origional tv but he gave it back after an hour, strike 2 on the night! and we have'nt heard from him since, but we are still persuing the stolen tv, its our property at the end of the day when i do get it back i will let you know what happened, so i would not recommend him to anyone, he has a lot of debt to pay and will rip you off! it is quite obvious with what hes done!

isnt this the same person with the dog problem!!!!

slagging the maltese.

maura

nope! this is a different problem, this guy we bought the tv from about 3 years ago, the other one was the vet, but some of us are touchy, @ present, why don't they do things the right way and then we would'nt have to complain, after all we are now in the EU we don't keep secrets like this from anyone! no matter where in the world we live,! i've been in the EU since 1977 and have more experiecne on how the EU works!
