does anyone know a vet, foreign if possible in the st julians, sliema, sweiqi, pembroke area? as i did have a vet before my car got stolen by a maltese! i then change vet and the one in the sweiqi area, he hates, even when he walked into the waiting area he kept on growling when he seen the vet he got even worse! i ceannt take him back there again as when he hates someone or something thats it, he is a very protective animal so i am to be the same not like that someone! he has developed a lump and i don't know what it is and it needs seen to it maybe nothing to worry about but i would still like it checked out. thanks!

Hi Maura
Try this link, http://www.noahsarkmalta.org/  and klick on vets.
Find one near you and phone them, they may well do a home visit.

Don't worry our dog developed a lump last month that turned out to be a bite.

maura

thank you and i will

georgeingozo

why a foreign vet ?

as it happens, all vets in Malta are trained overseas

maura

because the one i went to in sweiqi was local did'nt like the waiting room and then when she came out and showed her face he got worse, i think he has a problem if they are maltese women? i don't know but i did leave the surgery and told her i need to take him out as when he growls it means he hates its the same when i take him out for a walk he growls more than be nice and quite he is only quite with a few but not many, i think its called the vibes you've got! he picks it up and what do you expect from a hunting dog? his nose smells are very strong! thats why a foreign vet maybe better for him than a local! after all a dog knows best and i trust him more than my husband and my hubbie does'nt mind as he knows max will protect us more than a human being,
to be long winded about it we used to take him out to various places who are dog friendly and hated all the places apart from one, the only bar he is quite happy to lie under the table and allow all the stray cats crawl all over him was @ huggins paceville, he loves the place, but as hubbie has no job we ceannt afford their prices! so thats a little bit of history about my max hope that makes sence?

georgeingozo

no, I'm not a vet :-)

georgeingozo

The vet I use is in Gozo, hes called Frank Galea, and hes very good

maura

i think our george is starting to lose the plot toonarmy! but i do need to ask george is he expensive? and is he from gozo? if he is can you forward me his email i hope he does'nt do travel expenses!

Toon

George rarely loses the plot Maura..he is not a vet - he knows one - you can private message george on this site and he may be able to give you more info about the vet on gozo and maybe an idea of the vets prices.

maura

thanks for the info, i will read them up, however i have friends on both sides of the border in cyprus and they both got together and paid for a vet to come over here, and will be arriving today, as they know how much theft has been done to my husband and i it is very sweet of them and quite a relief that i don't have to cash out and keep whatever spare dosh i have got to myself! it was a nice surprise from them and something nice for me!by the time i get in touch they may not be able to see him and may take another week i don't think i can wait that long so for the next time i have the details and would be rude of me to say no as his flight is being paid for by them etc., thanks maura

john2011

your dog doesn't like the locals, interesting to read.

maura

I cannot believe what I am reading here. This is the first time I have read about the sick dog drama. It must be a joke.  Isn't it?

maltaforme

my favourite bit.comedy classic.

Warning : I don't like dogs who don't like Maltese people ; and I don't like dog owners who are using their dogs to broadcast insults against the Maltese.

This discussion is closed, and this will be my first - and last - warning
