Hi Hussain Ali and Kamal Shah;

There are a couple of large Property sites in Norway in which shared accommodation is a possibility:

http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/lettings/browse1http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/lett … it/browse1

These two links are direct links to the same website, Finn.no

You need to choose the place , e.g Oslo , and then click where it says "Alle områder" meaning all areas (of Oslo).

The price is in Norwegian kroner, and allthough the text is in Norwegian it gives you an idea of the price - you can also note the size of the room, e.g 22 m2 or 18.

In case you start a course at university I also suggest you contact the university to ask if they have a University accommodation list or similiar as I know some students are able to secure acommodation through their university if they apply in good time.

Thanks this website really helps. I am to get accommodation through this then how I can I rent the place while I am in foreign country and how to deposit money.?

Hussain; I succeeded in getting accomodation before one of my trips to Norway, however it is difficult. Most landlords would like to see their tenants before letting out a room, they want to know what type of person you are.

On the other hand, you too must not be naive so make sure before you deposit any money then be 100% sure the person is honest and genunine.

In order to secure a room, you need to explain them your situation, that you are overseas , going to study and it's too expensive for you to first go and see the room before you decide to take it. Also, you need to rely on any pictures taken of the room/house and learn about what type of people are already living there.

& after dealing with them, what is most secure method to deposit money while you are in foreign country. :)

Hussain ali: You can never be 100% sure even if you are in the same country!

I know that as far as your deposit is concerned (not rent) then you can set up a locked account with their Norwegian bank allthough there is a fee to set up such an account.

This would effectively mean that your landlord can not take out the deposit without your permission so they remain in that bank account until you both want them to be released.

Since you are in Pakistan, this might not be an option, but do ask raise the question with places you are interested in viewing to see if they know of anymore of such secure ways. It would seem suspicious or odd if they do not like to do this.

Hi Suman,

Try this Norwegian accommodation site:

http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/lettings/browse1http://www.finn.no/finn/realestate/lett … it/browse1

On the first link, the price seem much higher because most of them is for a full flat - DO NOT SECURE A BASEMENT (KJELLER) APARTMENT, IT WILL BE MINUS 25 DEGREES IN WINTER.

I suggest you go through all these ads, and also do a keyword search. You then need to contact those you are interested in.
To find contact details, click on the add and the email address is displayed to the right.

You can expect 1 room in a shared apartment will cost around 1000 euro monhtly (7000 to 8000 Norwegian kroner) - then they request for a deposit of maybe 3 000 euro
