Visa conundrum

Hi All,

I'm an American citizen married to a Norwegian. We married in the U.S. and he has a US permanent resident card. We need to move to Norway temporarily because his mother is very ill and needs him around. He's already moved back but based on the information on the Norwegian immigration site, he can't sponsor my visa because he has no proof of income for the year he lived with me in the states. I have a masters degree in education and have taught at the high school level for many years but since I don't speak Norwegian my job prospects in Norway are slim. We need to be in Bergen for about 1 year. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
