No problem re the fish of course but does anyone know how easy or difficult it is to buy non meat vegetarian products, e.g. Quorn products and other non meat substitutes?
Thanks.

It's fine I am a veggie and have other foods I can't eat. Most places sell veggie food you just have to tell them no fish

giusidda

I have so far found quorn products in every supermarket i've been  here in malta . I've been in towers (st julian and sliema) scotts (st julian) greens (swieqi) smart (birkirkara). Beside quorn i've found another brand called valsoia which i like too.

Take also a look at Good Earth in St. Julians

Veg Restaurants are TATE in Birgu and ANGKA CAFE in the Millenia Bldg in Marsa

And most restaurants in Marsaskala offer veg meals :)

Thank you all for the information, good to know.

I can bring food in checked luggage to Malta from Spain considering both are European Union Schegen areas ???????? The Auchan market here in Barcelona sells breaded Tofu Filets that taste so good that I can eat it without anything. A post I saw somewhere said a Tesco opened on the island ?????

Please let me know if anyone has any good ideas for something Vegetarian ( I do eat some seafood like CERTAIN fish, caviar, oysters, crawfish, mussels or prawns and all eggs ) that I can eat with Barbeque sauce other than potatoe chips - preferably cooked on a grill.

How about making your own? Here's a video on how to make seitan which I uploaded a while ago:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAHvXAJl8oA

There are a lot more things you can do with it in terms of seasoning and final use.

@ PEProChef: If you like breaded tofu, you will probably enjoy the meal suggestion at the end of the video.

I do just about all the cooking at home, preferably outdoors.

I enjoy it and I experiment but sometimes we just need something easy for when I can't be arsed :)

PEProChef

A splendid video but it took me a couple times to watch it because I kept beboping around ( dancing ) my apartment to the song - tried to look for it on the credits or comments and found nothing. I definitely plan to try it and appreciate that post. My problem is YouTube needs to add a send button alongside their files so you can forward the page to someone or yourself without needing to leave the window, use a Google or Facebook account, load another site just to get into your webmail, use more computer resources, etc.

The next time you get a chance fix it for me Einstein = Mister Deutschy : @ Home_Where_The_Hat.   :)

@ Redmik What does this word ARSE mean because I heard it before from other British here in Spain. Sorry but I thought it meant azz or sh¡t before but I suppose not from the context of your entry.

Thanks, We Americans rarely master linguistics as good as you Europeans.

No Tesco hasnt opened on the Island.... ah but if only....

Tesco now do an online clothes website that delivers to Malta this i think is what you saw in the other post.

PAVI have a great range of Quorn products and have a Health Section that also caters for coeliacs and people with other food allergies.... My only Allergy is that i eat to much of it :)

GuestPoster566

OK, PEProChef.
In this context 'arsed' means 'bothered' usually from a laziness point of view.
If I ever use the expression 'my arse!' it usually means contempt; an expletive.
Said when you do not believe what someone has just said
"She says she's got food poisoning." "Food poisoning, my arse! She just drank too much last night.
A popular expression from north west England, usually Liverpool.

PEProChef

@Scubaboy ... We got these stores LIDL everywhere here in Barcelona. What about Malta ? I was curious if you ever seen one of those marketplaces ?

I keep trying to find a doctor to treat my allergy - to work :) but I was told this is a incurable condition.

Thanks, your comment made my day. :D The credits are there, i.e. the music is something I made (making music is one of my hobbies).

Sharing a youtbe video without leaving the page can be done if you have a youtube/gmail account - of course you still need to be logged in.

@Home_Where_the_Hat

A little better than nothing option ( the share button that only works if you got a GOOGLE webmail ) but I just find it disappointing that there are far pettier sites that allow you to mail a page to someone easier than YouTube ???????

I missed the credits but will look again later using the same link.

A side note for other Vegetarians. ( Pescatarian but I only eat certain seafood ) I doubt I can ever abide by a Vegan diet or lifestyle but I do try to adopt some aspects like not wearing leather. The problem is finding replacements for such things like a belt and shoes at a fair price, normal store, within style, etc.

My point is I just bought my second pair of PUMA - motorsport type shoes that are clearly marked as being faux leather or pleather on Amazon. I love their footwear because they combine sport with what can be used as a casual dress appearance. :)

Great site, thanks.
Trying to subscribe through simple e-mail for updates. Can't seem to be able to.

You are indeed a man of exquisite taste - I too like the feel of leather on the foot....comfort and breathability with that 'je ne sais pas' continental look. Quality and style all the time.

I think you missed the part of me saying I adopted certain aspects of Vegan life. ( that means no animal by - products )

Thanks for reading anyway. :)
