yahonza

Hey,

I'm an Scottish expat recently moved to KL (Bangsar) on a 3yr contract who would like to expand my circle of friends here so would like meet new people for socialising with.

I'm into music (playing guitar and going to gigs), motorcycling (have done lot of overlanding but no motorbike here as yet) mountain biking (looking to acquire one soon), looking to do some surfing and learn to scuba dive. I should also add I'm really not into football :)

PM me if you're interested.

Melissa346

Hello yahonza,

Why private messaging? that's really too bad, because Im sure you'll get a lot more people to join in on the forum.

Good luck,
Melissa

yahonza

Don't really mind either way :)

omargaryen

hi yahonza...
i don't like football either. more into basketball.
what music genre you are playing?

nicowalk

Hi yahonza,

I have myself moved just over a month ago to PJ after living for nearly 10 yrs in the last town on the M8 (west).
If you want to scuba dive .. I like to go for weekends or when there are public holidays -- I'll keep you posted if you want.

Nick

yahonza

Hi Nico, I still need to do a dive course but am keen to do this fairly soon. You lived by the M8?!

nicowalk

yeah .. town starts with G -- don't want to write it down.

The trips to the island resorts etc. it always has to be 2 people - so even if you still need to do your OWD we can go together and I'll do normal dives until you get to your 3rd dive of the course and then I can join in as well.

yahonza

Sounds good, will need to get myself organised for doing the PADI course then

nicowalk

you can do it anywhere you want .. the cost is going to be the trip itself (it's much nicer to do it at a dive destination than a swimming pool -- as you're in S.E. Asia).
so depending on your budget .. if you want to do it before March .. it's going to be either Tioman which is close and relatively cheap or Langkawi (not as nice, but cheap) .. or Sinpadan (Top destination .. very expensive)

yahonza

I've been to Tioman before so would be up for heading there when it opens again (when is that by they way?) One of the guys at work is a dive instructor so planning on covering some basics in a pool at some point which should be useful but not as nice as Tioman!

Hello yahonza
Welcome to Malaysia.
Tioman I think will open up from early Feb onwards...
A friend of mine is organising a taster diving session in a pool very soon. If you want in let me know.

Alternatively there are some PADI course offers on Groupon quite regularly.

Hey there Yahonza

Howzit going on the mountain bike front, have you obtained one yet?

My hubby goes out usually every Sunday with a couple of mates (Englishman, Frenchman) but we don't hold that against them LOL and whoever else is keen for a couple of hours riding. DM me if you'd be up for a ride sometime, unfortunately over Xmas most people go away so probably won't be back into it till after New Years.

barev

hi there kiwi,

is that only for yahonza? can I join too ?

yahonza

Hey Kiwi4, still no luck on the bike front yet so will be likely next year before I get anything sorted anyhow!

hi Yayonza, following on kiwi's line of thought, i am selling my old mtb (its a basic hardtail with 21 speed).  so if you have not gotten your bike yet and wanna consider a cheap 2nd hand bike please pm me.  i recently upgraded to a lighter bike with 30speed.

nicowalk

Because it's south enough it never closes completely. But it's not gonna be very nice until mid-Feb, and probably best in Mid-March.

Hey Nico, I've not dived in Tioman so let me know when you are planning a dive trip there.  Don't mind trying it.
