Hi
My fiancé and I are planning to come to Egypt for our honeymoon in May 20 2013. We both are active and love history but i also want it to be romantic and nice. I was wondering if you can lead me to a place that would be perfect for a honeymoon but also has a lot of activities we can do.
Thank you
hello
if you are looking forward to see lots of history & sun and spend your honeymoon on the lovely romantic Nile then you have to go to Luxor or Aswan but i recommend Luxor
if you are interesting in sun ,beach ,dance ,disco, etc then you have to go to sharm el shaikh
i been in all Luxor , sharm and Aswan
i wish you happy h moon and i wish you luck xxxxxx
Sharm El Sheikh is your best bet ...... Avoid Hurghada at all costs ....... Avoid Northern cost at this time of the year .......
you can easily go to hurgahda first for a few days.. enjoy the beach and water and then go to luxor as its about 3 hours away. have the best of both worlds. or luxor then hurgahda. its not as fancy as sharm but it is lovely. i live in hurgahda. luxor is very hot bring a sun hat if u get burned easy and cover your skin with lose light clothes is my advice.

I have looked at Sharm El Sheikh and it seemed it only has beaches and you would go swimming all the time:)....and I'm not a swimmer.
true there are beaches but its the red sea! ppl dream to see it. its so beautiful and the fish are amazing. you can snorkle or even just go on boat trips and enjoy the sea from the dive boats. hurghada is cheaper cost than sharm and it has clubs and cafes that serve alcohol and many tourists visit. so it does have a western taste. it can be very romantic if you got a hotel with a sea view or take boat trip. for a few days its worth it for a week you will get bored. you can rent an apt or you can get a hotel room. i have stayed at the intercontinental and it was very nice and the cost wasnt crazy. and they have activities you can do for your stay. just suggestions:-)
ive been to luxor a few times and i love it also but you need a few days see see everything. it has the valley of the kings(and queens) and karnak. also can take trips from luxor to a few scattered temples like esna and temple of hathor. its amazing. really egypt is a great country i havent even seen all the temple and pyramids in egypt yet. lol
you should do some searches on any interests in egypt and im sure u will find many sites about it and to book online.

you are right sharm is better when i went the reefs were nicer and cleaner place but not worth to go to sharm travel wise theres not much history and its not close to cairo or luxor. also security issues there. :-)

and yes hurghada is quiet except at nite on the main streets. i lived in cairo and moved here because its a sleepy little beach town. i dont like the crazy traffic and crowds in cairo. also luxor is more mellow too.

I Agree ...for Romantic walk on calm beach goto Sharm and if you got interest in history go nearby places not so far like Saint Catherine and mosses peak ( Mount Sinai)This is actually what I did for my honeymoon as I was looking for both too

You are definitely mistaken
Sharm El Sheikh is NOT only beaches
Sharm El Sheikh has the best night life in Egypt. You can stay up all night bar/cafe/club hopping. You can dine in tens of places.
You can go for desert safari with Quad ATVs or Jeeps
You can go on a full day boat cruise to Ras Mohamed or Tiran island
You can go to the desert Bedouin dinner and show .... Very cultural
You can climb Saint Catherine mountain, visit the historical monastery ..... Climb Mount Moses, this is where Moses spoke to God.
You can go to the nearby Dahab for a sense of traditional Egypt.
You can take walks on the Naama bay beach strip, full of life all day and night.
And lots even more
Hurghada doesn't stand a chance to Sharm El Sheikh
yes but they said they like history.. what besides st catherines is there to see near sharm? plus doesnt st catherine require a long climb with stairs to get up there? if they like christian history then st catherines is good if they want ancient egyptian then it has to be luxor. :-) also is sharm that safe now? americans got kidnapped quite a few times recently in the sinai lol. they can see the same things in hurghada as in sharm its all red sea.

Rural Sinai is one thing, Sharm El Sheikh is another (safety wise)
no offense but hurgahda has all that for less cost and is closer to luxor which has all the temples and tombs. it blows away st catherines and its safer. lol heheheeh here in hurghada u can ride a camel on the beach too. traditional egypt is everywhere in egypt lol and in luxor can get a horse and buggy ride and see the people dressed in the upper egypt traditonal style.

IMHO nightlife in Hurghada sucks
there are clubs and cafes and resturants here.. many new ones actually. whats in sharm that isnt in hurgahda nite life wise.. they havfe night dive trips here and there both.. i really think its similar just sharm costs more lol
The Egyptian wrote:IMHO nightlife in Hurghada sucks
yes true but the trousist that got kidnapped(although they werent harmed) were with a guide and on a tour bus in that area.
