Australian school is not cheap .

Minni

Hi whybirda, thank you.
We  move into our house  next week, and I can't wait after a week in a hotel with 4 boys. Will look out for you at school or Gita Bayu.

Nemodot I am merely a parent who was looking for the best school within my price range, I have also mentioned other schools and stated that my friends are happy with the schools their children attend. Every school has had bad things said about it at one time or another, Tenby is no different but it comes down to personal preference and feedback can only come from people whose children actually attend. By the way I had a look at your website and it can only be viewed by members and the reviews are written by teachers so unfortunately a teachers point of view is quite different to a parents point of view so doesn't really give us a true indication of what the school is like.

Kiwi4, while I agree that personal preferences and differences of opinion are valid, it is untrue - and naive - to say that 'feedback can ONLY come from people whose children actually attend'. I would say that a viewpoint from an actual member of the teaching staff on the way the school is run, how well resourced it is, the integrity levels and honesty of the management, the validity and transparency of teaching and assessment methods, etc. would be of real interest and relevance to any other prospective parents. A school's own website can be a notorious smokescreen for what's actually going on 'at the chalkface'! Your remark that a teacher's point of view 'doesn't really give us a true indication of what a school is like' is a viewpoint I consider to be very short-sighted.

As you correctly point out, www dot internationalschoolsreview dot com is a subscription-only website; however, I think (as an international teacher myself) that this fee is worth every penny/dime. It has always provided me with invaulable information about a prospective place of employment - which, by default, also becomes the school I send my own children to, as international teachers invariably send their own kids to the schools they themselves secure a job in.
