Annual rainfaill and Days of Rain in Vilcabamba and Malacatos

Post new topic

Hi,

I'm doing the initial desk research on where to possibly move.

I understand that Vilcabamba and Malacatos have less rain than Cuenca.

I've searched a lot but have not been able to find anything definitive on how much rain per year and how many rainy days per year there are in these areas. I've found stats of 300mm to 1100mm of annual rain in Vilcabamba -- both can't be right!

Any info from someone who knows would be much appreciated :-)

Mak:
The amount of rainfall and the "rain season" in Ecuador can be misleading. The rainy season on Quito is typically November to April. That means it typically rains for 30 minutes anywhere from 2PM to 5PM.  Full day of rain happens periodically but is not common. We do experience occasional flooding during infrequent downpours however that is due to the poor infrustructure. It is less expensive to deal with the occasional flooded street and airport than to invest in a drainage system to avoid them.
I am a frequent golfer that has lived in Quito for seven years. In that time, I have only had two occasions that I could not finish a round because of rain. I used to average that in Ft. Lauderdale annually.
