Need help with resident permit procedure

Post new topic

Hello!

I live and work, with my girlfriend, in Changsha as an English teacher. I have a valid Z visa and a valid resident permit.

Our winter holiday starts next week and we are considering going to Thailand for a week or two. When we arrived in China we had to register at the local police station, and then again when we got our resident permit.

There is conflicting information on the internet regarding whether we have to re-register at the police station after leaving China and coming back again (if we were to visit Thailand). Some websites suggest that this is not necessary because we have a resident permit, and some suggest that it needs to be done every time.

Thanks

afaik, you have to re.register every time your documentation changes, like when you renew your residence permit, or similar.

on which websites does it say you have to do it each time you leave china? I've left and returned to china a couple of times with just registering the first time.. so in case I'm wrong.. where did you read that?
