Prescription charges in Spain

Hi

Does anyone have any information regarding exemptions from prescription charges, or if it's possible to purchase a yearly prescription entitlement(as in the U.K.) from prescription charges.

Briefly we will be coming over for a period of a year or more.
Here in the U.K. we do not pay for our medication I am medically retired but am only 53 and my wife is unable to work due to ill health also.

Our intention was to rent out our property here in the U.K. and rent a small property in the Alicante area for a year or more, Our problem is that I have 12 different items on my monthly prescription and my wife has 6 or 7 items per month, obviously if we have to pay per item whilst in Spain the cost would be to prohibitive, I understand that we will probably need to pay per month for our entitlement to medical care I understand this is approx 200 Euros per month but we need clarification regarding the monthly prescriptions, and as yet haven’t been able to get a clear answer on this.

If anyone has any information to help us clarify the situation we would be grateful

Many thanks
