Hey all!

My name is Ryan and this is my first post in expat-blog and I was hoping to meet some like minded people here! I recently moved to Mauritius last month and I plan to stay here for 6 to 12 months while working.

My French is very limited and I was wondering how beginners in the language reached a proficient level? Also, what is the best way to meet new people here?

Looking forward to any advice and posting on this forum!

Welcome on board Ryan !

I think we'll organize an Expat.com meet up, it's a good way to meet new people :)

Hey Ryan,

Welcome to Mauritius!  I know there are classes on island.  Will try to get more info for you.  I am about to start studying French on Rosetta Stone.  We'll see how that goes... Ha!!  ;)

I see you spent some time in the states.  Where were you?  I am from Texas.  Maybe we will meet up at the next Expat get together.  Good way to meet new people.

Have a great weekend,

Courtney  :)

Hey guys!

Nice to meet you all :-) Living just outside of Grand Baie at the moment, loving it. Might be busy for the first month or so but an expat meet up sounds good.

Courtney - Any info on French lessons would be great. I tried learning from a CD on the road but I feel classes with others would be more beneficial. I used to live in Tennessee when I was younger, loved my time there.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Ryan

Would be great to have a small group to meet some night or weekend.

Welcome New Faces in the paradise! :) You will love it. I support the meeting as well. Next Tuesday e.g. a public holiday. Lets find a day, which is good for everyone and will see. I think a beach would be perfect...
