Weekends - out and about???

Seen a few mentions of weekend activities but would love to find out more.

From my understanding you need a permit to drive off into the desert? How far can you drive out of the city centres without getting a permit & how do you get a permit?

Someone mentioned the dam for swimming. What other things are there to do at the weekend within driving distance of Tripoli aside from Leptis Magna? Accomodation outside town? Camping facilities? Ability to camp freely??

Any weekend tips would be great, I'm sure there are others on this board who would be interested too!

you don't neet permit to drive away from tripoli

just don't cross the boundary to other countries lol

u don't need premit , u are free as long u have legal resident
